THEATRE OF POOR MONTICCHIELLO: autodramma 2016

From Saturday, July 23 to Sunday, August 14, 2016 will be staged “Waiting Night”, the 50th autodramma the Poor Theatre of Monticchiello. Half a century … A very important anniversary for the Poor Theatre and the monticchiellese communities since 1967 faces life with the Theatre. Every year in the square of the village staged a show that is conceived, written and performed by the inhabitants, reflecting on themselves and the world. The moment of encounter with the public is the attempt to create a shared sense of the transformations under way, new challenges, each time by rewinding the thread that shows the cultural origins of this experience social and human.
The underlying theme of the show in 2016 meanders and developed around the theme of a “siege”: we are or are not under siege? Monticchiellesi are being besieged or are the others?
“Siege” is understood, then, apparently as a traditional siege with an army outside the walls, and the people inside the walls because the reference is to the complicated situation that we are experiencing, the inability to see clearly what is happening outside, to evaluate the events without fear. It can also consider, then, that there is an enemy and therefore no siege and then the perception of imminent danger transforms the narrative in a vision where fear becomes the only entity to fight.
And like every summer, now for fifty years, it is renewed what is a theatrical and scenic drive together, in dialogue with the stones and the facades of the houses, with tall cypresses and statuesque slender thirteenth-century walls of the church. Atmosphere from which material power, comes to life a show now realistic, now dreamy and animated by a choir of popular voices, built by a community to which the instrument to resist was and is still the theater.
For the special occasion, throughout the period of the replicas, it is expected in the streets, squares and spaces of the Teatro Povero a photography exhibition that traces the history. In October, also (dates and details to be defined) is planning a conference that will explore the history of this extraordinary experience also looking to its future.

The ticket can only be picked up the day of the show from 19.30 until 21.30 : the ticket ( entrance to the square ) .
Please remember that after 21.00 decade reservation fee .
Ticket Hours: 19:30 to 21:30 .
The show lasts about an hour . Despite being outdoors it is inviting the public to turn off the ringing of the phone and refrain from smoking during the show , in respect of the people close to them and the Company .
