The Teatro Povero is known most of all for the unique nature of its summer stage productions. These are the so-called autodrammi, presented as “conceived, written and staged” by the people of the village and by the company. They are presented in one of the village squares in late July and early August.
However, the tradition of producing winter plays is even older, dating from 1965. As a Christmas offer to its local audience, the company sometimes presents existing plays by other authors, and sometimes texts composed for the occasion. These productions give the company an opportunity to try out ideas and then re-assess them; but also to take on board an approach to theatre which is more intimate, perhaps less demanding, perhaps even more fun.
